    About us

    The Leadership Louisville Center (LLC) is the region’s most valuable resource for leadership development and civic engagement. With a purpose to inspire and equip leaders to be better and do better, we have graduated over 15,000 through our civic programs since 1979. We are recognized as a national best practice and known for dynamic programming and strong community connections. Programming includes community leadership programs, cohort programs for women and employee resource group leaders, leadership skills training courses presented through the LeadingBetter™ brand, and events designed to connect leaders and motivate positive change.

    The Talent Development Leader will manage the professional development offerings of LeadingBetter, including open courses, private trainings for partner companies, the LeadingBetter Summit, and more. This position will design and implement future courses offered by LeadingBetter and serve as a resource to clients seeking strategic help on developing leadership capacity on their teams.

    We will consider candidates seeking full-time (exempt) or part-time employment. While we offer flexibility for work-from-home, this position is best suited to a collaborator comfortable spending a majority of time in office.

    Job responsibilities

    • Present training courses demonstrating personal mastery of public speaking, presentation, and facilitation skills.
    • Oversee LeadingBetter operations, including strategic growth, budget development and tracking, and content management.
    • Develop and deliver effective learning modules by leveraging successful adult learning principles and technology.
    • Partner closely with business leaders to understand team challenges, skill gaps, and training needs to create and deliver an effective training strategy for our client companies and the community at large.
    • Collaborate with outside partners across the country to explore use of cutting-edge content and methods to bring ‘best in class’ leadership skills programs home to the LLC.
    • Curate content for the LeadingBetter Summit, including keynotes and breakout sessions.
    • Plan the calendar of courses for LeadingBetter, including in-house content and curriculum from training partners.
    • Design new professional development courses and keynotes to be offered as LeadingBetter curriculum.
    • Manage a learning management system (LMS), loading content for participants and providing support for staff and clients.
    • Ensure, monitor, and provide essential reporting on training programs and their effectiveness.
    • Work collaboratively with marketing and PR team to promote LeadingBetter offerings.
    • Partner with event logistics team members to ensure all details are handled for training events, including room layout, catering, agendas, handouts, nametags, seating assignments, etc.
    • Participate in community activities; represent LeadingBetter effectively to external audiences.

    Required skills

    • At least 5-7 years of experience in an adult learning role (including at least 2-3 years of experience as a speaker/presenter/trainer).
    • Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, organizational development, communication, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
    • Superior facilitation skills and experience delivering engaging presentations. Applicants will be asked as part of the interview process to deliver a sample training or workshop.
    • Experience in instructional design, with demonstrated success in developing creative, highly interactive, and experiential training programs.
    • Strong leadership presence and credibility.
    • Understands contemporary principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion and has participated in trainings in this area
    • Excellent project management skills; ability to manage details while maintaining a big-picture view.
    • Strong critical thinker with proven ability to think and act strategically.
    • Superior written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to sell, influence, negotiate, and exceed established goals.
    • Understanding of and experience applying adult learning principles and techniques.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; experience using Salesforce or other CRM platforms preferred.
    • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for Louisville’s business community and the mission of the Leadership Louisville Center.
    • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance and other relevant certifications are also desirable; DE&I certifications a plus.
