Bridging Generational Gaps -- Understanding the Expectations of Millennial Learners
There's no doubt the generational gaps are widening, thanks to the incoming force of 80 million Millennials born between 1980 and 2000. Their expectations are far different than those of their older colleagues, which have been observed for decades. This often creates great tension and causes unnecessary employee turnover, increasing recruiting and training budgets, plus more headaches.
While Millennials have a unique perspective on how work should be done in general, they've grown up with technology as not only a tool, but a requirement for getting things done and finding answers to their infinite questions. This leads to a need for adjusting the way training is conducted from day one of new hire orientation through continuous professional development opportunities throughout their careers.
In this session, Cara Silletto will explain who the Millennials are, what shaped their expectations, and how to adjust your training programs to engage and retain them over time, ultimately providing bottom-line results for your organization.

Cara Silletto is the Founder and President of Crescendo Strategies, a company committed to reducing unnecessary employee turnover for their clients by bridging generational gaps and making leaders more effective in their roles. Cara has more than ten years of experience helping people and businesses grow with a focus on developing young talent and helping all generations work together effectively. She is currently a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), YPAL, the National Speakers Association (NSA), and the American Society for Training & Development, and recently completed her term as Programming Chair on the Board of the National Association of Women MBAs (NAWMBA) Louisville Chapter. In 2013, Cara was featured in both “Today’s Woman” and “BG” magazines, where she was the featured young entrepreneur, and she was recently named a Top 3 Finalist for the One Southern Indiana James W. Robinson Young Professional of the Year Award.
