PANELIST BIOs 

GAYLE SHUFF 

Gayle Shuff has been with Texas Roadhouse for over 17 years. She joined the Training Department as the Training Coordinator and progressed in her career through Materials Coordinator, Materials Manager, Senior Manager of Instructional Design, and Director of Instructional Design.

She and her team are responsible for Texas Roadhouse, Bubba’s 33, and Jaggers learning and development materials and tools; food and beverage support materials; national training incentive programs, and Learning Live, the company’s Learning Management System. She’s proud to work for a company that is committed to its people, Legendary Food, and Legendary Service.

 

KATIE GILES

Katie Giles is a Director of Talent Management at Humana.  In this job, she is responsible for Associate Growth & Development, inclusive of continuing education, enterprise learning, program delivery, career and skills development.  She has held a multitude of roles in learning and development, enabling her to drive business results through strategic use of talent development.  What started as an internship has led her to a career driven by a passion for empowering the people who enable business successes. 

Katie is a wife, a mother of two, and a caregiver for her grandfather.  She has a degree in Communications from Denison University, as well as a degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University.   


JIMMY NELSON, PH.D., CPLP

 At the age of 32, Jimmy made a radical career change and began pursuing his passion in the Learning & Development field. Jimmy A. Nelson, Ph.D., CPLP holds a Masters Degree in OD&T, a Ph.D. in I/O Psychology, has taught as an adjunct instructor for Davenport, Spalding & Belmont universities, is a "retired" Dale Carnegie® instructor, is a certified Franklin Covey® Instructor and achieved his CPLP (Certified Professional in Learning and Performance) in 2010. Dr. Jimmy is an expert in Organizational Culture, Talent Management Systems, Corporate University Processes, Facilitation, Coaching & Leadership, and he specializes in Conflict Resolution and Advanced Teambuilding Skills. Jimmy is the Past President of the Kentuckiana ATD Chapter (2013) and served for 3 years on the ATD National Advisory Committee (NAC). In his personal life, he is married to his wife Deborah, has three wonderful adult children (and a recently added granddaughter), enjoys hiking, remodeling houses, the beach, boating, Geocaching, and especially travel abroad. He also serve on the board of several non-profits including Life Adventure Center and Volunteers of America.
